City of Chester Claim Large Medal Haul at Wrexham Spring Meet
19 swimmers from City of Chester attended the Wrexham Spring Meet on the weekend of 5th/6th May and came away with a large medal haul: 7 gold, 18 silver and 13 bronze against strong competition from teams from North Wales and the North West.
Thomas Rowlands age 10, won gold in the 50m Butterfly, 4 silver in 50m Freestyle, 50m Breast stroke, 100m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley, plus 3 bronze medals in 100m Breast stroke, 100m Butterfly and 50m Back stroke. Leah Gough also 10, claimed 3 silver medals in 100m Individual Medley, 200m Breast stroke and 50m Butterfly.
In the 11 year old girls Georgia Williams won gold in 100m and 200m Butterfly, 100m Individual Medley, and silver in 400m Individual Medley. Isabel Gelder claimed silver medal in 50m Butterfly. In the 11 year old boys Christopher Hooper won gold in 50 Breast stroke and bronze in 100 and 200m Breaststroke. Jason Williams claimed silver in 200m Breast stroke and bronze for 50m Breast stroke.
12 year old Charli Hopwood received 2 silver medals for 100m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle.
William Brown age 13 swam well to achieve a silver medal in 400m Individual Medley and 2 bronze medals for 50m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle.
Lauren Goodfellow age 14 won 2 gold medals in 50m Backstroke and 400m Freestyle, 3 silver in 100 and 200m Back stroke, and 50m Freestyle, and bronze in 200m Individual Medley. In the 14 year old boys Kyle Stubbs swam well to claim bronze medals in 200m Individual Medley and 400m Freestyle. Jack Edwards claimed silver medal in 50m Breast stroke.
Seventeen year old Rachel Stevens swam well to receive silver medal for 100m Back stroke.
Sophie Fisher, 10 gained 7 personal best times, Lucy Osborne and Amber Disley both age 12 gained 7 and 8 personal best times respectively. Anomi Fernando age 11 also gained 6 personal best times. Sophie Clarkson 11 gained 3 personal best times. Lucy Fisher and Katy Morgan age 13 and 14 respectively both came away with some credible personal bests.
Coach Don Bailey was very pleased with all swimmers times including the medal haul and high number of personal best times, which shows they are working well in training to create results.
