Water Polo Teams give Kings School a lesson
17th January
On Monday 17th January 2011 Chester hosted a friendly match against the Kings School at the City Baths. Under Captain C Bowness Chester controlled the first two quarters with ten unanswered goals shared between Bowness, R Gentile, T Lee, THutchinson, M Craig and R Goulding. Strong assists and stout defence by S Stradling, E Puaca, B Bolton, C O'Sullivan, J Bulmer and B Holliday and determined goal keeping from K Patterson made it very difficult for the Kings' boys to make any impression. In the third and fourth quarters the visitors rallied, but still the Chester team dominated, scoring a further six goals. Their supremacy continued when goalie K Patterson saved a penalty. Eventually, however, the Kings team were rewarded for their hard work by scoring in the final quarter, to end an excellent match played in good spirit. Final result 16-1 to Chester.

On Friday 21st January Chester 14 and Under team played host to the King's School. The sizeable Chester squad, captained by B Holliday got off to a briskstart with an early goal by M Craig. This was swiftly followed by 2 from S Crank, before R Goulding also impressed the scorers. The home team continued their dominance in the second quarter, with theimpressive Holliday leading from the front scoring 4, while Goulding added a second to his tally. The King's team played with energy and enthusiasm, but were simply no match for the experienced Chester squad. They were also seriously disadvantaged by the presence in the Chester goal of K Paterson, who resisted everything they could throw at him. At half time coach J Fisher loaned the visitors two of the home team to give them a little additional strength in midfield. Craig then surged up the pool and squeezed the ball past the Chester Number One, to bring the score to 9-1. The final quarter saw Chester dominating further with goals from P Reynolds, C Hulbert and T Hutcheson to produce a final score 12-1. This was a clean and enjoyable match with the Chester team in complete control, the ideal situation for newcomers such as G Erdi-Krausz to debut. The potential of the King's squad was evident, however and they are unlikely to be so easily dismissed again.
