House Galas

House galas take place 4 times a year as a transition for Learn to Swim swimmers to the competitive squads and for the junior squad members as a transition to external galas.
Swimmers will receive a letter inviting them to take part and these will be handed out by the teachers. If you have not attended before you will be put in a team on the day and you will then be a member of that team for all future galas.
All swimmers compete for their team by swimming 1 length Backstroke, Breaststroke and Front crawl and joining in relays which are always great fun. The one-length swims are timed so that you can see your speed improve at future galas. These galas are a lot of fun. Your parents may choose to help on poolside by signing on the volunteers list on the notice board.
Please bring 2 towels one to get dry between races and one to use at the end of the gala.
You can start from a push from the side or a dive, but if you wear goggles make sure they fit well so they don't slip off when to start your race.
Swimmers aim to achieve the following times in a 25 yard pool:
| Stroke | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front Crawl | 21.00 | 18.80 | 16.50 |
| BackStroke | 24.30 | 22.20 | 24.70 |
| Breaststroke | 26.70 | 24.70 | 21.50 |
