City of Chester Swimming Club celebrated success at the Cath Ankers gala on Saturday 9th June at Wrexham. The 23 swimmers came away with 16 medals, 4 speeding tickets and 74 personal best times between them.
In the 10 year olds Leah Gough won gold in the 50m back stroke, speeding tickets for 50m freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley. Millie Riddick was also awarded a speeding ticket for 50m freestyle. (Speeding tickets are awarded when the swimmers time are faster than the original gala entry acceptance times). Connor Hone was awarded silver medals in 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m Individual Medley.
11 year old Christopher Hooper won two silver medals for 100m backstroke and 100m breast stroke. Thomas Rowlands was awarded silver for 100m Individual Medley.
Thomas Townsend aged 12 won 3 gold medals for 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, and 100m Butterfly.
In the 13 year olds Alex Hackett won 4 silver medals in 100 freestyle, 100m breast stroke, 100m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley. Not to be outdone Lewis Franks won silver in 100m backstroke and bronze in 100m freestyle.
Keen to experience swimming for the first time at an away meet were 9 year old Jessica Graham, 11 year old Megan Partington and 12 year old Emily Titlow, who all came away with creditable personal best times.
Other swimmers who swam well to gain a large number of personal best times between them were; 10 year olds Abbi Goodfellow, Imogen Golding and Rebecca Pemberton. 12 year olds Amber Disley, Lucy Osborne, Natasha Groome and Paige Cox, 13 year olds Anna Plunkett, Katherine Craig, Allan Prossor and Henry May, and 15 year old Katie Morgan.
Coach Mike Price was very impressed with all the swimmers achievements and commented on how well the swimmers had performed. This shows how many of them had worked hard during training this season. The swimmers can then use their improved times at the next gala, he added.
