Young Swimmers excel in Wrexham

Saturday 12th June saw 34 swimmers from City of Chester compete in the Annual Cath Ankers Memorial Swim Meet at Wrexham Waterworld. The team was mainly made up of the clubs younger swimmers, many of whom had not competed outside the City Baths before this meet. The youngsters were accompanied by Assistant Coach Craig Prime and some of the Clubs Senior athletes who were also competing.

All the swimmers were very excited about the meet and the opportunity to shine in front of a packed audience, and shine they did! A total of 16 medals were won by the swimmers, including 5 Golds, Georgia Williams with 2 in the 9yrs age group, Molly Whatmore also in the 9yrs, William Brown in the 11yrs and Dan Morgan in the 15 & Over age group; 7 Silvers from Ian Prossor (14yrs), Rachel Stevens (15/0), Jack Edwards (12yrs), Georgia Williams (2 in the 9yrs), Thomas Townsend (10yrs) and Molly Whatmore (9yrs); and 4 Bronze medals from Rachel Stevens (15/0), Molly Whatmore and Georgia Williams (both 9yrs) and Thomas Townsend (10yrs). There was also 24 Top-8 finishes from Chester Swimmers from, Charlie Sleddon-Plant (13yrs), Valentine Borbas (11yrs), Hugh Gibson & Hannah Roberts (both 12yrs), Caleb St Hill (10yrs) and Ben Cartwright & Anomi Fernando (both 9yrs).

On top of the fantastic performance by all the swimmers, young Georgia Williams was awarded the “Top Swimmers of the Meet” for her 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze.

The Coaches and Club are very proud of all the swimmers efforts at the meet and their professionalism at such a young age. We all look forward to the success in the future.
