City of Chester awarded top external club at the recent Geoff Drew Meet

City of Chester Swimming Club were awarded top external club at the recent Geoff Drew Swimming gala in October at Holywell.

This was an all round team performance, with 32 swimmers including 11 who had not competed at an outside gala before winning 21 gold, 21 silver and 16 bronze medals. In the 9 year girls Jessica Graham and Phoebe Townsend were awarded the joint “Top Girl” for achieving the highest number of top places in the 50m events, and 12 year Caleb St Hill was awarded Top Boy in the 12 year age group for the highest number of points in the 100m events.

In the 9 year old girls Jessica Graham won a gold medal in 50m Butterfly, silver in 100m Individual Medley and 2 bronze medals in 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke. Not to be out done Phoebe Townsend won 3 silver medals in 50m Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle, and bronze in 100m Individual Medley. Jessica Hall won 2 gold medals in 50m Freestyle and Backstroke and a bronze in 50m Breast stroke. 9 year old Noah St Hill was awarded gold medal in 50m Butterfly, a silver in 50m Breast stroke and bronze in 50m Freestyle and Backstroke.

Jasmine Yeoman aged 10 claimed third place in 100m Freestyle. Chloe Fahmy won a silver medal for 100m Individual Medley in the B category, and Abi Goodfellow was awarded silver and a bronze medal in the B category for 100m Breast stroke and Individual Medley respectively. Connor Hone won 2 gold medals in 100m Freestyle and Butterfly and 2 silver medals in 100m Individual Medley and Backstroke.

11 year old Isabel Gelder won gold medal for 100m Freestyle, and 2 bronze medals for 100m Butterfly and Individual Medley. In the B categories; Emilia Stewart claimed gold medal in 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke, Sophie Palgreath Neath claimed gold in 100m Individual Medley, Megan Partington won silver in 100m Freestyle, Rebecca Pemberton won silver medal in 100 Individual Medley and Anna Banim won bronze in 100m Breast Stroke. Christopher Hooper won gold in 100m Breast Stroke, silver in 100m Freestyle and bronze for 100m Buttefly. His times in 100m Individual Medley and Backstroke were too fast for the meet and he gained a speeding ticket.

In the 12 year old girls Lucy Osborne won gold in 100m Backstroke and Bronze in 100m Breast stroke B category. Caleb St Hill won gold medals in 100m Breast Stroke and 200m Individual Medley, 2 silver medals in 100m Freestyle and Butterfly and bronze in 100m Back. In the B catergory Brandon Jones claimed gold medal in 200m Individual Medley and 2 silvers in 100m Freestyle and Backstroke and Sean Thomas gold in 100m Backstroke.

13 year old Natasha Groome gained gold in 100m Freestyle, and 2 silver in the B category for 200m Individual Medley and 100m Backstroke. Also winning in the B category; was Anna Plunkett who was awarded 2 gold medals for 200 Individual Medley and 100m Breast Stroke, and a bronze medal 100m Free Style, Katherine Craig was third in the 200m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle, Eleanor Shields came second in 100m Freestyle. Alan Prossor was awarded 2 gold medals in the B category for 100m Freestyle and 100m Breast Stroke

Lauren Goodfellow aged 14 was awarded silver medal in 200m Individual Medley and bronze medal for 100m Butterfly. Matthew Johnson claimed gold in 100m Backstroke.

Competing with excitement in their first external gala were Phoebe Townsend, Jessica Hall, Molly Bullock, Chloe Fahmy, Noah St Hill, Emily Davies, Emilia Stewart, Anna Banim, Sophie Palgreath Neath, James Sleddon Plant and Brandon Jones.
