Medal Haul at Coventry

City of Coventry Swimming Club Level 1 Open Meet - 5th November 2011.

6 of the top swimmers from City of Chester came away with 17 top 3 finishes, 2 national qualifying times and 28 personal best times, after travelling to their recent swimming gala in Coventry.

12 year old Isabel Thwaite claimed 5 gold medals in the 50, 100 and 200m Backstroke events, 100 and 200m Freestyle and then a silver medal in the 50m Freestyle. 2 of Isabel’s swims were national qualifying times. In the 13 year old girl’s event was Lauren Goodfellow who won the gold medal for 50m Backstroke and also achieved a personal best time in 50m Freestyle. Not to be outdone, Isabel’s sister 10 year old Phoebe claimed the gold medal in the 50m backstroke and a credible fourth position finish and personal best in the 100m backstroke.

Swimming for the boys was 13 year old Simon Ellershaw who won a gold medal in 50m Butterfly, silver medals in the 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley, and a bronze medal in the 100m Freestyle. 12 year old Harry Fleetwood gained two gold medals in both the 50m Freestyle and Butterfly. Harry also gained a bronze medal in 100m Freestyle. Competing in the 11 year old events was Caleb St Hill who achieved a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke and a bronze in the 200m Breaststroke.

Coach Don Bailey who watched the swimmers was very impressed with the swimmers effort and achievements on the day, and commented how hard they were working in training.
